Pareo (from the Tahitian pāreu)  is a women’s garment, a rectangular cloth that is tied on hips as a skirt, under arms as a dress or otherwise. Pareo originates from the French Polynesia, Tahiti. The islanders wearing pareo were often present on the Polynesian canvases of the French artist Paul Gauguin.

Now pareo is part of the women’s beach outfit. It is a highly practical garment that is able to replace any wardrobe item: a dress, skirt, sarafan, top, trousers or even a swimming suit. In addition to that, it can be used as a cape or veil protecting you from the baking sun and dangerous UVB rays.
