How to not let the chance slip and reach your destination point? Let’s ask the great Andersen.

When there is a will there is a way

During the course of the tale Thumbelina is always under risk of living her life with someone whom she doesn’t belong to. Remember, she was being proposed by a son of a swamp Toad, a pompous Stag Beetle and a blind rich Mole who hates sun. But every time she manages to escape and start all over. That’s what wise women do, even if they need many years to finally meet their happiness. Thumbelina’s patience is rewarded by the love of the Flower-Fairy Prince who gives her wings. Don’t consent with something less than perfection!

Be inventive and optimistic

There is always a way out! Even in a dark forest, in the middle of a swamp, Thumbelina managed to escape the ugly Toad. She gave her sash to the Butterfly who carried her away on a lily pad. Let’s assume: whatever happens, stay calm and think strategically.

Everyone judges in his own sight

The wise fairy tale says: on your way you will meet those who think, look and feel different, there is no such thing as the only right point of view. People may try to convince you that there is nothing tastier than flies and mosquitoes, be astonished by your “squalor” (“how ugly, she has no antennas and only two feet!”), tell you that sun and love are stupid things and the goal of your life is to have full storage of grain, darkness and peace. You should remember that everything depends on a point of view, and never quit what you really like.

Protect your Swallow

In European mythology a swallow is a symbol of soul, she brings spring and helps young brides being a messenger of happiness. She is under Thumbelina’s protection during the long and cold winter. When spring comes and the girl is forced to marry the blind Mole, the Swallow helps her fly away to the Fairy country. Gathering strength under Thumbelina’s cares, she is finally able to protect her saviour! Don’t forget to feed your soul, especially when it is tired and runs off the course! Time comes, and your Swallow with find a way to your dream.
