This question is typical for the newcomers to a work community or the people whose operational environment changes regularly. Colleagues come and go, but they stay ordinary people seeking for calmness and understanding!

1. Ask for advice.
Each of us feels nice when we are useful or get acknowledgement for a good piece of advice. It is better to consult with your colleagues on work issues only.

During an induction period, don’t miss an opportunity to play the role of a grateful student, but be careful not to overdo it: remember that other people’s time is no less precious than yours.

2. Smile.
This is the world-old communication rule that may be used both with new people and the ones you already know. It is important that your smile is sincere, otherwise you’ll be unmasked in a tick. Sometimes, when you are in a bad mood, it is better to be a frowning but sincere “girl with a bit of a character” than to annoy people around you with simulated amiability.

3. Find common topics for conversation.
There are plenty of them: pets, grown-up children, home flowers that are difficult to take care of… In the last resort, you may discuss the foreign political policy or staff changes in your company.

4. Make joint orders from the catalogue.
Even if you are not a Representative, invite your colleagues to participate in your order. They are sure to find the product that would be just right for them, while the joint shopping will bring you together no worse than teamwork. The bigger your order is, the more bonuses and special offers you get. Share the benefits among all of you!

5. Take part in corporate parties.
First, it is an excellent opportunity to see the artistic triumph of your colleagues. In addition to that, corporate parties make it easy to find common topics for conversation and smile to the people around you!

6. Leave your personal problems at home.
When at work, you should be fully focused on your professional duties. Avoid making any personal phone calls in public and use your best efforts to keep the colleagues away from your own troubles, unless they express their willingness to help you.

7. Radiate optimism.
Before sharing some unpleasant information with your colleagues, think whether they need it, and (most importantly) how you can sweeten this bitter pill. Make the life of people around you more comfortable, and they will do the same to you!
